The red date, also known as the jujube fruit, is native to China and grows on the jujube tree. It is regarded as an ancient superfood due to its high nutritional value. It is called red date because of how similar it looks and tastes to Middle Eastern brown dates. It is a little less sweet than a brown date and packs more fibre and antioxidants. It makes for a very healthy snack, can be added to grazing platters or used in desserts.
