Arrowroot flour can substitute cornstarch in most recipes. 2 teaspoons arrowroot flour is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of cornstarch. Just like cornstarch, before adding arrowroot flour to a dish, make a slurry by stirring the flour with a little cold water until smooth. Unlike cornstarch, you should avoid adding arrowroot to a hot liquid. It does not need to be cooked, so it is recommended to add the slurry at the end of a recipe, before serving. It can also substitute flour thickeners. 1 teaspoon arrowroot flour is equivalent to 1 tablespoon of flour.
