Australian chestnuts are grown and harvested in the high altitude regions of Australia. Chestnuts surprisingly contain vitamin C, which is not found in other nuts! Chestnuts are gluten free, so are a great addition to diets of those intolerant to gluten or with coeliac disease.
Chestnuts have a sweet nutty flavour, which make them very versatile and work in both savoury and sweet dishes. Chestnut flour can be used as a substitute for wheat flour or almond flour to make gnocchi, pancakes, cakes, cookies... It can also be blended with other flours.
