Coriander seeds are from the same plant that grows coriander leaves, also known as cilantro. This spice has an almost sweet aroma with notes of citrus. It pairs well with allspice, cinnamon, cumin, garlic, and nutmeg.
As with all seeds, toasting coriander seeds will bring out more of the aromatic flavour. Coriander seeds can be used whole or ground into a powder. It can be used to season and flavour both sweet and savoury dishes. Use in marinades, spice rubs, curries and stews. Add to pickling solutions, chutneys, cookies and cakes.
