Mung dahl, or moong dahl are split mung beans that have been stripped of their outer skin. They are traditionally used to make a soup-like dal known as mung dahl and also used to prepare sweet puddings and cakes. Mung dal easy to digest, quick cook, and doesn’t need to be presoaked.
Mung beans are high in nutrients and antioxidants. They aid digestion, promote weight loss, lower cholesterol, regulate blood sugar levels and reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers.
To prepare, rinse, drain, add to a pot and cover with plenty of water. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat and cook for 20-30 minutes or until completely tender. Use in curries, soups and stews, blend into a dip, or use in salads or veggie burgers.
