Pumpkins, and their seeds, are native to the Americas - the word “pepita” comes from Mexico, where the Spanish phrase “pepita de calabaza” means “little seed of squash.” Pumpkin seeds have a mild nutty flavour. These doubke roasted pumpkin seeds, still in shell, are a particularly popular snack to past time, enjoyed with a drink or while watching sport games. The shell is inedible, so the seeds are commonly eaten by cracking the seeds with your teeth, then spitting out or throwing away the shell. It might take some time to get your technique right, but once you do, you’ll be hooked onto these nutty tasting seeds.
