Raisins are a type of grape that has been dried for around three weeks. These grapes are initially green in skin colour and darken as they dry, becoming a dense, dark-coloured dried fruit bursting with sweet flavour.
Raisins are packed with energy and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals such as iron, calcium, and boron. Additionally, raisins are an exceptional source of antioxidant, anticancer and antimicrobial compounds.
Raisins can be enjoyed as a snack on their own, or added to breakfast oatmeal, porridge and smoothie bowls. Add raisins to your baked goods - cookies muffins, fruit bread, biscuits, granola, muesli, trail mix, nut mix for some added sweetness. Raisins are also a delicious addition to super salads, or to a grazing platter. They also compliment savoury dishes including curries, chutneys, couscous and pasta. Use in stuffings or in a sauce.
