Star anise is a spice from the fruit of an everygreen tree (Illicium verum) indigenous to China and Vietnam. It has a distinct licorice flavour. Star anise should not be confused with aniseed. They both have a similar flavour (and names) but are from different plants and regions! This organic product is GMO free, and contains no preservatives or artificial flavours.

How to enjoy

In cooking, star anise can be used whole or as a powder. It can often used in Chinese, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine in soups, curries, stews, beverages and desserts. Adding one star anise to a pot of broth, stew or tea is sufficient. It can be removed before serving.
