Hibiscus is a flowering plant native to many parts of the world. It is traditionally worn by Tahitian and Hawaiian girls. The dried hibiscus flower can be steeped for tea, or used to infuse hot and cold beverages and desserts. It has a slightly floral and tart flavour and an uncomparable lovely pink colour.

Hibiscus tea is high in antioxidants and is caffeine free. Studies have shown that drinking hibiscus tea regularly may help lower high blood pressure, promote liver health, reduce PMS symptoms, reduce risk of cancer. Hibiscus tea may affect esterogen levels so if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, you should probably avoid hibiscus in your diet.
