Rolled oats is the traditional grain of choice for breakfast porridge. Oatmeal can be enjoyed warm or cold. Try topping your oatmeal with some shredded coconut, cinnamon, chopped apples and maple syrup. Rolled oats can be used to make granola, bircher, muesli, and other energy foods such as energy balls or oat bars. Blitz rolled oats in a food processor to create oat flour that can be used to make pancakes, muffins and other baked goods. You can make your own oat mylk at home by soaking oats overnight in 6 parts water. The next day, blend the mixture with a little natural sweetener such as a pitted date or honey. Strain through a cheese cloth and keep the oat mylk refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Shake before use.
