Dates are a convenient healthy, energizing snack on their own. These pitted dates are also a safe lunchbox option. Combine with other dried fruits, nuts and seeds for the ultimate trail mix. Table dates, as the name states, are a great addition to grazing platters or for entertaining. Pit and chop table dates to be added to porridges, smoothies or used as toppings. Add to your baking for a natural sweetener - dates are great for raw or vegan recipes and can be used as a binding agent in energy balls and muesli bars. Dates are traditionally used as a filling for Middle Eastern semolina maamoul biscuits, and coconut date rolls. They can also be softened by soaking in hot water and pureed to be used in desserts such as sticky date pudding. In savoury dishes, toss some chopped dates into salads, quinoa, chutneys, sauces and stuffings.
