Kidney beans are unsurprisingly a very effective remedy for kidney problems, including kidney stones. Kidney beans help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of diabetes or hypoglycemia. They are a great source of fiber, minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, particularly rich in Iron and a great addition to any diet suffering from iron deficiency.

Before consumption, kidney beans should be soaked in water for at least 5 hours and boiled at 212°F (100°C) for at least 10 minutes. Soaking the beans eliminates a naturally occurring toxin in raw kidney beans called phytohaemagglutinin that can affect digestion. Bring 1 part soaked kidney beans and 2 parts water to the boil, allowing to boil for about 15 minutes before reducing the heat and allowing to simmer until tender ~ 1.5 hrs. You could use a pressure cooker to speed things up. Kidney beans are great in chilis, Mexican dishes, curries and fillings for baked potatoes. Kidney beans can also be pureed and used in veggie burger patties.
