Pinto beans are one of the most popular beans in the Americas. They have a beige colour with little brown splashes, looking like they’ve been painted; hence their name “pinto” which means painted in Spanish. When cooked, their coloured splotches disappear, and they become beautiful pink coloured beans that also happen to be very nutritious - they contain the most fiber of all beans. Hearty pinto beans are excellent for soups, stews and chillis.
